Our 1300 tree grove is nestled in the foothills of the Otway Ranges near the village of Deans Marsh, 20Kms inland from the coastal resort of Lorne on the Great Ocean Road.
The distinctive taste of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil emanates from the cool climate, North facing, sandy loam soils and the annual rainfall of 750mm.
The grove was established in 2002 and the 2004 harvest is our first pressing.
The major plantings of oil producing trees are the renowned Frantoio from Tuscany in Italy and the Barnea from Israel, supplemented by Leccino from Italy and Picual from Spain. The table olives planted are Kalamata and Volos from Greece and Manzanillo and Sevillano from Spain.
The Australian olive oil industry is still in its infancy but already other countries are taking notice of our distinctive flavours and quality. Australian oils are winning medals against established oil producing countries and exporting has commenced even to Italy. The Asian market has taken a liking to our oil also as the realisation of the enormous health benefits of using extra virgin olive oil becomes more apparent.
Our olive products are presently available at Lorne Green's Fruit & Vegetable shop in Lorne (Ph: 5289 1383) and at our grove in Deans Marsh (Ph: 5236 3479) and by mail order.
